Monitoring

Nuuk Basic comprises four monitoring sub-programmes, i.e.:

ClimateBasis:
The ClimateBasis monitoring programme gathers and accumulates data describing the climate and the hydrology in Kobbefjord. ClimateBasis is operated by Asiaq - Greenland Survey.

GeoBasis:
The objective of GeoBasis is to provide long term data of terrestrial variables describing the dynamics of the physical environment in Kobbefjord. GeoBasic is operated by Department of Arctic Environment, National Environmental Research Institute, Aarhus University in co-operation with Department of Geography and Geology, University of Copenhagen and Asiaq - Greenland Survey.

BioBasis:
The overall aim of the biological monitoring programme is to establish long and simultaneous data series on all trophic levels in a low arctic ecosystem. BioBasis is operated by Department of Arctic Environment, National Environmental Research Institute, Aarhus University and Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen.

MarineBasis: The purpose of the marine monitoring programme in West Greenland is to establish long time series of physical, chemical and biological key parameters making it possible to evaluate how the marine plant- and animal distribution, composition and production will be affected by the ongoing climatic change and human exploitation.
MarineBasis is operated by Greenland Institute of Natural Resources, Nuuk.
